Running From Fear

Lighthouse Storm

I would like to talk to you today about

running from fear. Anyone who listens to

the six o’clock news will know that we are

living in fearful and uncertain times.

Most people can be divided into two

groups, those who are running after

something and those who are running

from something. The hound dog likes to

chase the rabbit, but untrained dogs are

no threat to those quick and alert

bunnies. But the dog might disappear for

hours in eager pursuit in hope of

overtaking the frightened creature.

God’s children often run in fear of what

the future might hold for each of them. In

these days of uncertainty, the believer

may pass through times of worry and

anxiety even though the enemy cannot

overtake us. Do not let Satan chase you

from your domain of peace and shelter

which the Lord has provided in Himself.

Remember that He is with us in every

situation.

A friend told me about how afraid of

storms she had become. While on a trip,

the sky darkened, and the wind blew. She

began to pray, when suddenly, she

experienced the Peace that passes all

understanding until the storm passed by.

She added, “His comfort remained with

me throughout the trip.”

There are more blessings to come from

our Lord than to run in fear at every

change of circumstance.

Father, when I am afraid and the storms

rage, be my comfort and my refuge.

Amen.

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?  But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.  Luke 12:6-7 KJV
