Nicodemus New Life

New Life

I would like to talk to you today about

New Life. Nicodemus wanted to know

more about these teachings of Jesus. He

had been watching Jesus heal and make

the blind to see. Finally, he could no

longer ignore the pull in his heart toward

spiritual desires.

How his heart must have burned within

as he approached the Master. “You have

something I need. What is it?” was maybe

his opening statement. I do not know the

details of that meeting, but I am sure

Nicodemus’ life was changed that day.

Life surely cannot remain the same as

before.

The most exciting thing in the ministry is

to see an individual’s life completely

changed by the power of God. He is

suddenly different. His wife knows it. The

children know it and the neighbors know

it.

A pitcher for the Detroit Tigers moved

into our area and attended services. Our

deacon and I visited him and his wife.

That visit has been the highlight and a

blessing of my ministry as he and his wife

shared how their life had been barren and

empty until one day, hungry for God like

Nicodemus, they sought the Master in the

darkness of life. Their love for the Lord

overflowed. They could not stop talking

about it. The greatest evidence of the new

birth is the changed life, “And they cannot

be silent.”

Father, stir our hearts today until we

realize that only Christ can satisfy the

hunger in our souls.

Amen.

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:15-16 KJV
