I would like to talk to you today about a
Heavenly Invitation. Jesus talked about a
man who prepared a great feast and sent
out invitations. He sent his servants to
summon the guests. “Come,” they said,
“for all things are now ready.”
But the guests began to make excuses. It
seems strange that anyone would refuse
good food and sweet fellowship, but the
excuses were strange, still. One claimed
he could not come because he had just
bought a piece of land and had to look at
it. Have you refused His invitation to
enter the Kingdom of God because you
are wrapped up in earthly possessions?
The second man’s excuse was that he had
bought a team of oxen and had to try
them out. This man is like a child who is
too busy playing games to come to
dinner. Many are too busy with personal
projects to tend to eternal affairs.
Another claimed he had just gotten
married and could not come. Often, we
allow another person to come between us
and the blessings of God.
Have you accepted God’s invitation to sit
down in heavenly places with Him? It is a
free invitation to the learned and the
unlearned. All are welcome to sit down
and enjoy this feast of God’s mercy and
love. To turn down such a gracious offer
would be foolish. You have received this
precious invitation today. Accept it!
Father, let my heart be willing to accept
heavenly invitations.
Amen.
And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper. Luke 14:22-24 KJV
