I would like to talk to you today about
finding peace with God. When I was
pastor, a young lady called on the phone
in tears. “Pastor, does God forgive
adultery?” Her pastor had told her that
this was an unforgivable sin. I assured her
that this was not an unforgivable sin.
We ought to thank God for any event, any
friend, or tragedy that shows us we are
going against God’s will. Guilt, sickness,
and disappointment will bring a
consciousness of how much is missing in
our lives without Christ. He tells us in
Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the
door and knock. And if any man opens
the door, I will come in.” Have you
answered that precious urging? Have you
acknowledged His Presence that tugs at
your heart?
During my pastorate, we had a popular
gospel group in our area who attended
our church. One evening, there was a
knock at the door. As I answered, the lead
singer stood, dropped to his knees, and
moaned, “Pastor Bob, I have never been
saved.’ His entire family joined our
fellowship by baptism. “There is joy in the
presence of the angels of God over one
sinner who comes home.’ (Luke 15:10)
Father, search me O Lord and see if there
is any wicked way in me.
