I would like to talk to you today about
Sweet Hour of Prayer. Jesus instructed
us, “When you pray, enter into your
closet, and when you have shut the door,
pray to your heavenly Father, which is in
secret, and your father, which sees in
, shall reward you openly.” (Matthew 6:6).
This is a powerful promise to the believer.
The mother of John and Charles Wesley
prayed daily for her sons in a secret place.
Upon following her one day, Charles Wesley
discovered that his mother had a well-worn
path that led to a small area behind the shed
where she prayed. We all need a place of
calm retreat. Do not give up too soon if God
has not yet answered your prayers. Too often,
we stop just short of victory. Slowdown in
your busy day and wait for the Lord. He
desires to meet with you. He will not deny you
your needs. Renew your spiritual strength as
you meet with him.
He is too kind and loving to give a stone to
those who ask for bread. Search your heart.
Ask him to reveal anything that might be
hindering your prayer life with him. Do not
allow yourself to be too busy to see the
blessings. Too often, a busy life is an empty
life. Remember, your Father who is in secret
will reward you openly with a full supply of
his grace and forgiveness.
Father, supply our needs today according to
your riches in Christ Jesus.
Amen.
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Luke 11:9-10 KJV
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11:11-13 KJV
