I would like to talk to you today about
receiving God’s fullness by faith. If you
are his child, then our Lord desires to
fill you with his spirit. There are only
three ways an honest man may gain
possessions: by purchase, barter, or as
a gift. Money will not buy the fullness
of the spirit. Simon the Sorcerer was
severely rebuked for attempting it. There
is nothing that you can exchange with
God for his goodness except a meek
and humble spirit.
The rich ruler could have exchanged half
of his possessions for life more abundant,
but he departed sorrowfully. Have you
bartered with God for more of his spirit
with a special talent, or a few moments
of time. That will never acquire possession
of what God has available for you. You may
receive it only as a gift. It is yours. Thank
him for it.
A story told by a pastor friend was that
when he returned home from a week of
preaching, he was always met at the door
by a small son who would ask, “Daddy,
what did you bring me?” He would grab
my bags for he knew somewhere in there
was a gift for him, but he said, my daughter
forgot the gift until she had loved her daddy.
Many believers seek the gift and not the
Giver. He wants to fill you with his spirit.
The gift is yours. Claim his blessings as your
birthright by an act of faith.
Father, fill the hungry hearted with your
spirit today.
Amen.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:7-11 KJV
