Jesus said, “Come unto me, all you that
labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest.” His compassionate appeal is as
broad as the entire range of human need.
Burdened souls respond and find the rest
and peace that the Savior promises. What
is the most important thing to you today?
Is it tinsel and gift wrappings, or is it to
spend time with Christ in prayer? Are you
more concerned about what gifts you will
receive during this Christmas Season, or
with the thoughts of those who will not
receive anything at all?
We had an elderly neighbor who had never
married and lived alone, a graduate of
Michigan State. The biggest blessing for my
family was to give him a fruit basket on
holidays and invite him to our cookout in
the summer. God called him home suddenly.
Today, we have a special friend in heaven.
During the family get-together, remember
those who have no family, and send a card or
gift to those who are alone. Above the
celebrations, seek the presence of Christ.
He will present himself in every situation
as others seek him and his peace. It is
during this time of year when life should
be more meaningful if we truly know what
Christmas all is about. The Savior appears
to us in all His graciousness.
Have you received him?
Father, open our hearts that we might
receive your gifts of Peace, Joy, and Love
through your son, Jesus.
Amen.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:10-14 KJV
