I would like to talk to you today about
claiming God’s blessings. During the
Depression of the 1930s, a tired old lady
approached the desk of an insurance
company. When asked what she needed,
she showed them a policy and explained
that she was no longer able to make
additional payments. She said that it
was hard enough to get enough work to
feed her and keep a roof over her head.
After a quick investigation, the clerk saw
that the policy was unbelievably valuable.
He warned the elderly lady that it would be
unwise to stop payments. “Besides,” he said,
“What about your husband? This is made
out to him with you as beneficiary.” She
quickly explained that he had been dead for
three years. Company officials soon
discovered that she was telling the truth
and refunded overpaid premiums. She
received the full amount for which her
husband was insured and lived comfortably
for the rest of her days. She did not realize
that she was entitled to the face value of
the policy as soon as her husband died.
The greatest benefit of all time came when
Christ died on the cross! Are you trying to
make needless payments on your soul’s
salvation?
Accept the immeasurable gift that is yours
through the death and resurrection of the
Savior? He has already paid the price for you.
Accept it.
Father, grant me the purity of heart that I
may claim the blessings which are already
mine.
Amen.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV
