I would like to talk to you today about the
tricks of Satan. While the Christian life is one
of joy, it is not a bed of roses, but rather it is a
running battle with the world, the flesh, and
the devil. The fiery darts of the enemy
attack when we least expect it, and when
we are least prepared. Then he pours it on.
His aim is to get you, as God’s choice
servant, to destroy your effectiveness with
rash decisions and hasty words.
Do not allow yourself to think small. As a
pastor, how often I hear the confession, “I do
not know what made me do it,” or pastor, “I
had not meant for it to go this far.” Then
comes the trail of condemnation,
selfdepreciation, and resignation. Many drop
out of church and the fellowship of other
believers. This is a losing battle. Do not fall for
it. It is his trick. I often hear people say, “I have
been fighting the devil all day.” It is a losing
battle for you to fight him. Besides, Jesus
has already won the victory. Resist him and
he will flee. When the devil comes in like a
flood, read Psalms 29:10, “The Lord sitteth
upon the flood.” Jesus is in control.
Father. give us strength to withstand every
dart Satan hurls at us today. Be a hedge
above us. And our shield.
Amen.
No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn’t know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from my Father.
