I would like to talk to you today about tears.
Tears are the window of the soul. Tears also
cleanse the soul. I have had my share of
disappointments and tears. What
encouragement to know that I am not the
first to weep, nor will I be the last. Is there
any who has escaped the flow of tears at the
grave of a loved one?
A young lady who had lost her father wanted
to know if she lacked faith because she had
wept at his grave. At that moment she began
to cry uncontrollably. At first, I did not know
how to answer her, not desiring to upset her
more. Then Jesus spoke to my spirit and
said, “Tell her I wept at the grave of a
friend.” Psalm 84:5 says, “We shall pass
through the valley of weeping and make it a
well.” That is the secret. Pass on through. Do
not stay in it, lest it shall turn to self-pity.
Make that valley of weeping a well of
refreshing. True, Jesus wept but only
momentarily.
St. Peter wept when he had disappointed our
Lord. He allowed his bitter tears to turn to
sweet fellowship and renewed relation with
Christ. You do not have to go through that
valley alone. When your soul has been
cleansed by tears of repentance, your
fellowship with him can be sweeter than
before. Cast your cares upon him. He sees
your tears today.
Father, Thank you, that after the tears of the
night, joy cometh in the morning.
Amen.
No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn’t know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from my Father.
