The shortest verse in the Bible is found
in Saint John 11:35. “Jesus wept.” Two
words, but there are also two words in
Mark 16:7 that I think are just as
beautiful. Jesus told the women at the
empty tomb to “Go tell my disciples,
And Peter.” Especially Peter. He was one
of the disciples. He had been a constant
companion of Jesus.
Why this special message to Peter? Peter
was no longer within the fellowship. For a
moment, in a time of temptation, he had
taken his eyes from the Master. This
broke Peter’s heart. And to add to his
sorrow, Jesus heard and saw what Peter
did. Later, Peter slipped away and wept
bitterly.
Is this your lot today? In a moment of
temptation, you have failed to please him.
You may feel that you no longer have a
special place with your Lord. God has not
rejected you. Be careful not to reject
yourself.
As a pastor, one of the greatest problems
I meet are those who cannot forgive
themselves after seeking God’s
forgiveness. Guilt has put too many a
person in the grave. The love of God
rejects no one who repents of his
wrongdoing and tums from it. Jesus has
a special love message for you today. Go
and tell my disciples, And __________.
Add your name and ask God to forgive
you the sin that keeps you from His
inner circle.
Father, thank you for the forgiveness
that is available to those who seek your
presence today.
Amen.
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 KJV
