Seeking Christ

I would like to talk to you today about

seeking Christ. In the Gospel of Mark we

hear of a woman who had been sick for 12

years. Penniless and without friends, the

doctors could not help her. Her feelings are

one of hopelessness. Do you feel that you,

too, face a hopeless situation today? We all

do, eventually. Our sorrows and

disappointments are a summons from God

to seek a closer walk with his son, Jesus.

When President, Ronald Reagan underwent

cancer surgery. I rejoiced in my spirit to hear

him acknowledge God as his healer. And

later, during a hostage crisis when asked if

he would forgive those who held our airline

passenger’s captive, he pointed upward and

replied, “I’m not the one who forgives

wrongs.” God wants us to rely on him.

This woman had no other hope- and neither

do we. Have you acknowledged him as your

only hope? Pain, tears, and even people will

seek to hinder you from a personal relation

with him. Do not allow others or

circumstances to thwart your efforts. Jesus

lingered within her presence until she

touched the hem of his garment. He is within

your reach right now if you seek him. Reach

out in genuine faith. Acknowledge his

blessings when they come. He will not allow

you to steal away quietly. Share your new-

found faith with someone.

Father, let me experience that inner touch of

faith today.

Amen.

No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn’t know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from my Father. John 15:13-15 CSB
