Parable of the Kite

I would like to talk to you today about

being filled with care. One windy day, a

man watching a small boy fly his kite,

imagined that the kite was speaking to

him: “How wonderful it is to soar into the

blue sky. But if the little boy would cut the

string that is holding me back, I could

soar even higher than any kite has gone. “

“Foolish kite,” the man replied. “Do you

not know that if the string were cut, you

would fall to the ground?” Then he added,

“The thing that holds you back, also holds

you up!”

The special ministry that holds you back

is to lead you into a deeper relationship

with our Lord. And the burden you bear

was designed to teach you to cast yourself

upon our Lord. You ask, “What then shall

I do with my cares?” St Peter gives us the

answer — “Cast all your cares upon Him

for he cares for you.” David, the Psalmist

writes, “Commit thy way unto the Lord,

trust also in Him, and he shall bring it to

pass.”

Do not allow the cares of the world to

choke out God’s blessings and joy in your

life. If you are troubled about something

that you can change, then rely on our

Lord to change it. You will be surprised

how quickly God can work through the

prayers of his children.

Father, teach me to cast all my cares upon

you. Grant me peace in every situation.

Amen.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.  Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
