Mary Chose Best

Faced with a blessed opportunity

To sit at the Master’s feet

To listen and learn directly

For which we can only yearn

Yes, Mary chose best

But Martha couldn’t resist

So much needed to be done

A guest in her home

And Martha was the only one

Scurrying, tidying, and serving the Son

Yes, these tasks seemed vital

Mary meanwhile learned from the Son

Sat at His feet

Listened to the One

We know that Jesus values service

But given the chance

He commended Mary’s stance

The question for us remains to be

Do we make Him priority?

Listening and learning at His feet?

Walking daily in His Word?

Focused on the meaning?

Spending time in devotion?

Not distracted by commotion?

Before the serving begins

Be sure to spend time with Him

Yes, Mary Chose Best

The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42 CSB
