I would like to talk to you today about
the “thirsty” being satisfied. Jesus said,
“Blessed are they which do hunger and
thirst after righteousness, for they shall
be filled.” Thirsting is an instinct to a
newborn baby. The Psalmist David spoke
of spiritual thirst being an instinct, when
he prayed, “My soul thirst for the Living God.”
We all thirst for something, but the soul of
man can never be fully satisfied without
Christ. Wells of material satisfaction run
dry. A man lost in the dry arid desert will
imagine that, at the peak of his thirst, he
sees a mirage. He imagines a cool, rushing
spring among green palms. But then, as he
bends to drink, it all vanishes, leaving him
with only dry sand. Things in life will always
leave us disappointed like that.
Jesus said, “Blessed are they which do
hunger and thirst after righteousness for
they shall be filled.” I have never known
of a true believer who was disappointed
with what Jesus offered. Listen to the
invitation. “Come and drink.” Everyone
that thirsts come to the waters. If any man
is thirsty, let him come to God and drink.
Are you thirsty today for the things that
satisfy you? All that is required is that you
come to the Right Source. He does not
promise a trickle, but Rivers of Living Water.
Father, fill me to overflowing with waters
that satisfy my soul today.
Amen.
Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:13-14 KJV
