I would like to talk to you today about
lifting power. A reporter inquired of a
champion weightlifter, “What is the secret
of your many wins?” To which he replied,
“I try not to think about the weights, just
the lift. Once I start to think about the
weights, I lose sight of the lift.”
So, it is with life’s problems and its burdens.
We can worry about the problem, or we can
think about a solution. We can overcome
our difficulties. Or we can be overcomers.
We can see only our lack or we can open
our eyes and see Him, the source of our
power. The successful weightlifter realizes
that there is something more powerful
than weights. He knows there is lifting
power available in him. He knows that his
attitude is far more important than the weight.
“When doubts threaten to get me down, then
I remember the lifting power within.”
David, the Psalmist wrote these words for
God’s children, “I will lift up my eyes unto
the hills from whence cometh my strength.”
Psalm 121: 1. God’s strength beside you,
His love within, and His arms beneath are
more than sufficient for victory today.
Father, I know I can do all things through
you in Christ Jesus.
Amen.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. Acts 1:8-9 KJV
