I would like to talk to you today about
Heavenly Prayer. Prayer is not making
demands on God with a list of needs or
errands that need to be run for the day.
Prayer is fellowship with God. Prayer is
sharing our needs and the desire of our
hearts with Him.
Moses entered the Tabernacle to speak
with God. He separated himself from all
others where he could be with God alone.
Jesus tells us where God can be found
when he calls us to “enter into our prayer
closets.” When you pray, expect God to
meet with you, that you may have direct
communion with Him, and He with you.
Listen to His voice. He longs to speak
with you. Confess your faults. “Your
heavenly Father knows what needs you
have before you ask him.” (Matthew 6:8)
Freedom and joy can only become
personal after we have praised Him and
confessed our failures. If you have prayed
to be like Jesus, you can expect
persecution and misunderstandings such
as he endured. Only then can he teach
you something of his tenderness and
gentleness that you may learn how to
intercede with others and to bear one
another’s burdens. If you pray to become
one with him, it may mean that friends
will forsake you, and that you might walk
alone in fellowship with him.
Father, may we find the true joy of
fellowship through prayer with our Lord
today.
Amen.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Matthew 6:6 KJV
