I would like to talk to you today about
being satisfied. Jesus said, The Kingdom
of Heaven is for the child-like, easy to
please. Most have ceased to be easy to
please. It takes more to keep us happy
in our day, doesn’t it?
Jesus had no place to lay his head. He
tells us, “The foxes have holes, the birds
of the air have nests, but the Son of Man
has nowhere to lay his head.” Every
beautiful letter St. Paul wrote was written
from a dungeon where he testified to
have been naked, hungry, and thirsty.
We have everything, yet we still are
often unhappy. Most have never been
in want. Can we find joy at the sight of
the sunrise, or thankful simply because
we have never been hungry, naked, or
thirsty?
When John F. Kennedy was killed,
church doors opened immediately. Bells
rang, people dropped everything and
gathered in the churches to say a prayer
for our country. Pray for your children.
We had a funeral service for a seventeen-
year-old young man recently. Thank
God for the noise, and even the problems
you may have today with your children.
Do something special for your spouse
simply to please them. Tell one another
you are thankful for them. If we think
about it, most have nothing to really be
unhappy about, and everything to be
thankful for.
Father, thank you for every good thing
that satisfies the soul today.
Amen
Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 KJV
