I would like to talk to you today about the
birth of Christ. It should grip the hearts of
believers with joy and expectation.
History looked forward to that moment,
and now looks backward to His birth.
Indeed, it was a dark night for Israel as
they suffered under Roman rule. Blessed
Hope was present that night. Angels
announced the birth while the stars in the
sky danced with joy. The shepherds, as
well as the wealthy kings and wise men
came to greet Him.
I know that if you had been the inn
keeper that night, two thousand years
ago, you would not have turned Him
away, but what about right now? Have
you welcomed him as your personal
King? There is much that obscures His
presence in our earthly activities and
giving of gifts. Have we ignored the
angel’s announcement?
A Jewish young man from our local ball
team stayed in our home one evening. I
wanted to know what he believed about
Jesus. He said that since Christ had not
returned a few years earlier, some had
lost hope, but his family still attended
worship services several miles away.
I do not know when Jesus will return but
if we are obedient to the Father, we do
not need to know. One day, the long
watch will be over; We will hug and love
those who are with Jesus.
Father, Thank you for the Blessed Hope
and Promise of His glorious appearing.
Even so, Lord Jesus, come.
Amen.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10-11 KJV
